fat from houston... er, BACK from houston I mean

Spent the the last week in Houston. Had a great time chillin with the in-laws. Had some work to get done, but once that was done I actually think I relaxed a little. Oh, and ate a LOT. Cardio and supplementation are going to have to be stepped up this upcoming week.

On Christmas evening we returned to my parents house where we opened gifts and spent the night. We left early on Sunday cuz we had a lot of unpacking and stuff to do from our trip. Maybe one day I'll update the blog with some pics. All in all it was a decent holiday week. Cept I didnt even think about training once!

Its Monday already?

Another eventless weekend. Finally got and put up a tree. Still gotta winterproof Max's room window with that plastic film that insulates and protects rooms from drafts and stuff. Better do that tonight no matter what considering the warmest it'll get is in the mid-30s this week.

Gonna try to do road and weights today. Definitely road. I should call Dan and see if he wants to wrestle today or tommorrow. I'm not even sure if he's in town.

My plan for this work week is to run 4 times and lift at least twice. Kinda ambitious for my schedule. We'll see.

out of gas

So i didnt get to skate last night. I ran out of gas. Literally. My hybrid, gas-sipping prius actually ran out of gas on me. I guess its cuz I'm not used to filling it up during the week. I usually fill up every sunday in Indiana where gas is cheaper, but I forgot that I drove to Madison and back since then this week and it just slipped my mind. So I ran out of gas in the middle of a busy road right in front of a Highway exit. During rush hour. Oh yeah, I was that guy. So if it took anyone extra long to get on I88 off of Naperville road yesterday evening, my bad.

Today is a weights and road day. Good Times. My fat ass will be faded as hell, but I still feel like skating. Maybe I'll get Tony to ride with me after I cut his hair tonight. Tony is super-geeked cuz Oregon got like, 4 feet of snow or something and he is heading out there next week to ride. Lucky bastard.

Speaking of my fat ass, did I mention that at last weigh in I clocked at 218 pounds? Which is kinda good since my body fat hasnt changed any from when I was 184. Right? The problem is I need to get down to 178. I stopped with the creatine, which was hard cuz when you start getting all buff and whatnot its kinda hard to choose to stop. But I gotta think about the end result here. Its either get down to 178 or fight heavyweight. And I'm not fighting heavyweights. FUCK that! I've seen some of those cats throw hands and quite frankly, I'm too damn pretty.

I'm ramblin. I'll hit you back with the days training stats.

Wednesday Road Work

4 miles interval running on treadmill over 45 minutes. Not sure what the setting had me at, but it was kinda like jog, slight run, jog, intermediate run, jog, hauling ass, repeat. I'm just glad I was able to get it in during my lunch hour. Maybe tonight after Max goes to sleep I can skate a little instead of worrying about road work.

Back in the saddle

Shit. Its Wednesday. And no, the reason I havent posted any training since Friday isnt cuz I havent been able to get to a computer. I pretty much have a computer fused to my fingers most of the day. The reasons cuz I havent trained at all. Friday night Isa got sick and was bad all day Saturday. Then Sunday Max got sick. Monday and Tuesday I was at a user conference for work. So here I am, on Wednesday looking at my last post on Friday. I guess thats why I am doing this. It puts things into perspective. Its time for my lunch break, so I am going to try to put in a few miles on the treadmill.

more soon.

In the beginning...

So this is my first attempt at a web log. Props to The Smooth Character for pointing me in this direction. He will no doubt get countless more throughout the duration of this blog, since its his teachings and instructions that I am using as I work toward my goals.

The primary impetus driving why I am here is cuz I need to somehow chronicle how I am training for some boxing matches I plan to compete in this coming spring. I need this because although I have technically already began my training process, its been slow. And shitty. I've been incredibly lazy thus far and that needs to stop. I figure by journaling my activites, I can force myself to quit making excuses.

I've fought a couple of times before. Under TSC's tutelage I won both fights by knockouts. That was when I was almost 27 years old. I'm 29 now. And married. With a kid. And another one on the way. Factor in that I spend 3 -4 hours a day just commuting and you can understand how time management is a much bigger deal than it was a couple of years ago. So I guess that this blog is going to double as a kind of life monitoring device as well.

Lets see how this works out, shall we?
